Counseling and Hypnotherapy in
Cincinnati Ohio The Cost of Counseling
I am now accepting Humana. Please check your individual plan to ensure I am on your plan's provider list. Getting counseling is one of the healthiest choices you can make. Talking to a counselor concerning problems without worrying about being judged, getting objective feedback designed to help you make healthy changes or decisions in your life is very liberating. Counseling can help you grow on a personal level, improve your relationships, and help you get in touch your spiritual being. Often people have health insurance that covers mental health counseling services. Usually, there is a list of mental health providers available through the insurance company in your area. The insurance company is contacted; clinician’s names, telephone numbers, and office locations are given to the individual who is then responsible for calling and scheduling an appointment. Typically there are a maximum number of sessions the insurance company pays for, and the individual is responsible to pay for additional therapy. Often people engage in therapy without contacting the insurance company. While making this choice does result in higher out of pocket cost, it also limits the restrictions that can occur by going through an insurance company. The cost of counseling varies. Factors affecting the cost include; the educational level of the clinician, the area where the therapist practices, and what services are provided to the individual. The cost can range anywhere from $65.00 to $200.00 for a 50 minute counseling session. Many clinicians have ‘sliding scale’ fees, based on the individual’s ability to pay for services. I charge $75.00 for a 55 minute counseling session and I do offer a ‘sliding scale’ fee. Counseling is worth the time, effort, and money. I often think that people would avoid a lot of pain and sorrow if they invested in themselves through counseling when problems begin getting difficult to manage, rather than wait until problems are close to being, or have already become out of control. And counseling is much less expensive than time wasted being unhappy. |
